Mamma Mia 3: Lily James and other stars 'drastic' for new sequel

MAMMA MIA iii has already gained a lot of attention even though its product is currently shrouded in secrecy. A few of Mamma Mia!'s biggest actors are already candidature to get the new flick into cinemas as presently as possible. Pierce Brosnan revealed he has heard "rumblings" of some other sequel. But Amanda Seyfried doesn't remember another film is possible.

Lily James discusses rumours of third Mamma Mia!

Ten years after Mamma Mia! was released in cinemas its fandom was left ecstatic when Mamma Mia! Here We Become Again hit cinemas. The 2018 movie connected the story of Sophie Sheridan (Seyfried), while also finishing off the story of Donna Sheridan (played by Meryl Streep).

Since then, talks of a sequel, Mamma Mia iii, have been rife. While nothing official has been announced just still, many of the actors have given their opinions on whether it ought to happen or non.

Express.co.uk spoke with Stellan Skarsgard, the histrion behind Bill Anderson, back in 2020 about a return to the motion picture series.

On a potential Mamma Mia 3, he said: "Well, I don't know. It took them 10 years to come up with a story for the second one! By the time they come up with the story for the third ane I'll probably be dead." Despite this, he added: "If they come up with something and it's the same bunch of people I'll happily practice it again because we had so much fun with it."

Some other of Sophie's potential fathers, Pierce Brosnan, also wants to make a comeback.

Brosnan said of returning: "I would jump at the idea. I would love it! I mean it is so dear to my heart and I recall to all the actors who worked in the movie, the celebration and joy that it brings to people's lives. The music, the story of it..." He added that he has heard "rumblings" of a comeback from the Mamma Mia! makers, and even said he thought it "had the legs" to work.

But Sophie herself, Seyfried, isn't too convinced it would work out.

The final scenes of Mamma Mia! Here We Get Again showed Streep's graphic symbol, Donna, finally moving on after dying. This means any farther sequels would have to focus solely on Sophie and her continuing journey with her son, Donny.

And Seyfried isn't confident there would be plenty content left for the next chapter. "I wish there was a Mamma Mia 3," she said. "Only I'll tell yous what – I've said information technology before and I'll say it again and I hope I'm wrong again – I don't think at that place are enough ABBA songs to make a third movie."

Peradventure a prequel would be the all-time bet for the tertiary Mamma Mia! movie?

Lily James - star of Disney Plus show Pam and Tommy - played the younger version of Donna in flashbacks. And she is more than prepared to make a comeback.

James said: "I'yard drastic for it to happen. It was like, it didn't experience real. Information technology was so fun just singing on the beach and on a gunkhole. I don't know. Why isn't it happening? We all demand it. It's been COVID. It's been terrible. Let's do Mamma Mia." She went on to add: "Please! But just If I'm in it. They probably won't have me. It'll probably exist like, Sophie's baby. Anyway! Let'south stop talking about it."

But the chances are good considering how much coin the moving picture fabricated.

Mamma Mia! fabricated a staggering $611 million at the box part, making information technology one of the highest-grossing movies of the year in 2008. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Once again was equally every bit impressive, making more than than $400 million at the box function.

With such massive returns on the movies, it a third film is very possible - just the franchise will have to work out a brand new story starting time.

Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Hither We Go Over again are available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
